Hey! When you think of a newborn girl session, what do you think of? I think of pretty details on headbands, elegant bonnets, and beautiful colors.

Meet Gemma! Isn't this baby girl just a dream!? She's so pretty with those chubby cheeks and beautiful hair. Her newborn session was a model call to photograph some of the new items that I purchased. You see, I've had a LOT of baby boys for the last several years. So, I posted and her mama contacted me for this short session so I could get photos of these new beautiful items.

When we design your session, sometimes it's easier for you to visualize what you want to incorporate with in use photos. Some are very visual and know exactly what they want, while others have no clue and go for neutrals to keep it simple. OR, you can just let me do all of the designing and be surprised. haha! Either way, I'm sure you'll love the turn out since it's of your baby.

Don't forget to book your session with me as early as possible. I book up fast but don't let that scare you if you didn't know. I might be able to fit you in, just reach out.

As always, hugs and love!

Newborn Baby Girl Olivia

Hey there! I see so many beautiful babies and I'm still in awe of the names. This beautiful girl is Olivia, and I LOVE her! She is such a pretty little girl and I think her name fits her well. I'm curious if she'll have a nickname Oli or Live or Olive or Livia. Haha!

Anyway, her session was so good. I know, I know. I say they're all good, but mostly that is true. Back in the day, when I first started photographing newborns, I didn't have a clue about what I was doing. This was before I got smart and took training so that I could do it well, since I love these little babies, and so that I could do it safely! I wouldn't have said the sessions were good then. But, now, if I have a spicy baby, I will let you know.

For this session, we started with family and then it was just this little miss alone. Her parents loved her up and then she slept most of the way through the rest, which is the way we want it. Sleepy baby is the best!

Did you know that I send you a prep guide? This way you don't have to guess on what to do before your session. If you follow the prep guide, the session will go as smooth as it can.

Wanting to book a session but don't know where to begin? That's ok. Contact me and we can discuss everything.

Hugs and love!

Weston was in for his newborn baby photo shoot session. With a seriously handsome face, light blonde hair, and adorable expressions, he pretty much stole my heart. He was a big baby, with a length of 23.5" at birth. So, when I was thinking about the props that were selected during the design consultation, I wondered if I would need to get creative. Well, he fit in everything just fine. In order to safely pose him in the cute little white chair, his dad was able to hold on to the side of him and then I was able to composite the image (merge 2 images together) so that I could eliminate dad's hand. Hand editing comes in handy so that we can get the perfect shot!

I'm pretty sure that this is the first baby I've ever seen with amazing blonde eyelashes. They were so bright, and I hope they stay that way. His mama is a beautiful blonde so I'm thinking Weston might keep those features. Although, you never know. My sister was born with almost black hair and is blonde now. haha.

As always, babies grow up fast. Moments fleet and memories fade. Capture milestones while you can. I really love when clients return for more milestone sessions, within the first year especially. Ending that baby's first year with portraits, cake, and bath time is always fun!

Are you looking an amazing maternity experience? A photo shoot to document your pregnancy? A one stop shop, so to speak? That's where I come in. I want you to simply enjoy your pregnancy so let me do the work.

Kendall booked her maternity and newborn session with me. As first-time parents, Kendall and her husband hadn't been through any of this before. She came in to try items on from the client closet about a week before the session. I love everything she selected! Everything that you see her wearing are items that you can wear, too! Her session was so beautiful. It's funny that I'm writing this blog post now, as she just texted me that her baby girl Charley was born on the 23rd. It goes to show that I'm not very good about blog posts. haha! So excited to meet their baby girl!

Below are so of the common questions for a maternity session.

Should I have my maternity session inside or outside? How about both! We can start at the studio and then end outdoor with the golden hour before sunset. No matter the time of year, outdoor is always possible, even if it's just for a few in the winter.

What would I wear? No need to worry about shopping, unless you really want to! I have a complementary client closet for the entire family. Beautiful designer gowns, dresses, body suits, fabrics, and more. Plus, I have men's shirts and a client closet for the littles. Bonus, I have a pop-up tent for changing so don't worry about only wearing one item!

What about hair and makeup? You can do your own, or I have someone that can come to the studio and take care of it for you.

When should I have my session? I recommend between 28-34 weeks. The main reason for this is that the further along you are, the more you want to take it easy. Plus, between 28-34 weeks is a perfect pregnant belly and usually you feel pretty good.

When should I book my session? Book it as soon as you hit your second trimester. Booking in the first trimester is ok too. But don't wait too long as I fill up fast. Hit that contact me button so we can get you on the calendar!

Remember, life is short so get those memories captured!

Hugs and love!

Welcome to my blog! I'm a southern MN photographer that specializes in maternity, newborn, and family photography.

So, what are you looking for in a photographer? Not sure. Well, I can only imagine that the search must be stressful. You're pregnant and now you have to think about this. You simply want someone you can trust with your tiny little human. Hi there, here I am waving my hand, as I'm extensively trained and have years of working with newborns. Newborns are my favorite, which is why I specialize in them. Also, I'm CPR certified and a licensed nurse.

What about a session that isn't the same as everyone else? You want something that is different, you want something that is designed just for you. Well, I have just that. My superior hoarding abilities means that I have a HUGE prop inventory. Because I have so many props, sessions are not the same. Check out my post here on Instagram with my most recent video of the newborn area. newborn section

How is this different from other photographers? First, you contact me to see if I'm available for your due date month. Then we get you booked so that we can have our design consultation. At the design consult (via zoom or at the studio), we design your session. You pick what you love and want to include in your session. Newborn sessions include lifestyle and posed portraits. My lifestyle area has a bed and makes for the perfect candid portraits. My posed area has many different backdrops, props, and more.

What happens after the design consult? You patiently wait for your baby to arrive and once that happens, you contact me to schedule your session. Soon enough you will be holding that tiny little human because time flies by.

How do I know what to bring to the session? I have you covered! Once you book with me, I send a prep guide so that you can best prepare.

What if I just want baby in the photos? That is entirely up to you, but I encourage parents to get in a few. Afterall, you select what you want to purchase so if you decide to get more of baby and none of parents with baby that is up to you. Siblings, furry and/or human, are always welcome.

Don't wait to book your newborn photographer. Newborn photo shoots book out fast and I only take so many per month. While I want to take pictures of all the babies in the world, it's not possible so hurry and hit the contact button. Click here to contact me!

Have questions? Let me know, as I'm happy to help.

Xoxo,

Michelle
